On November 17, 2011, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in a pay equity case involving some current and former Canada Post employees who were/are part of the PSAC bargaining unit. The ruling means that eligible employees will be compensated for 50 per cent of the wage gap found to exist from August 24, 1982 to June 2, 2002 by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. Canada Post respects the ruling of the Supreme Court and will abide by the decision.
We understand that current and former employees, who believe they may be eligible for compensation, are looking for answers. Given the complexity of this situation, it would be inappropriate to speculate at this time on the level of compensation and the timing of the payments. When it has been determined who is eligible for compensation, those individuals will be notified in writing.
